At New "STATE OF THE ART" Sir Sandford Fleming College Residence
RESIDENCE FEATURES:
- Each residence unit has 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with showers
- Each residence unit has 1 senior staff per 6 players
- Each residence unit has refrigerator and all furniture
- On main floor of residence unit is laundry facilities, game room, and work-out gym
- Outside the residence includes basketball court, tennis court, soccer field and baseball diamond
- NEW! Swimming at the new Wellness Centre on campus
RESIDENCE INCLUDES:
(Sunday through to Friday afternoon)
- Check-in Sunday 4:00 pm at Sir Sandford Fleming College
- Check-out Friday 6:00 pm at arena
- 5 night stay over Sunday through Thursday
- 5 dinners Sunday through Thursday
- 5 breakfasts Monday through Friday
- 5 lunches at arena Monday through Friday
- Transportation between Residence and Evinrude Arena daily (5 minutes)
- Camper will be sent checklist of things to bring in June mailer
- Assistance in arranging airport shuttle
PROGRAM FEATURES:

15 Hours on-ice Monday to Friday
3 Hours on-ice daily:
- 1 - 1/2 hours in morning power skating
- 1 - 1/2 hours in afternoon checking
- program runs 8am to 5pm daily
1 - 1/2 hours daily specialized power skating:
- agility and balance - forward and backward
- crossover on CHE Carousel machine
- using both edges and learn how to attack the net
- developing stride speed
- utilizing upper body for better balance
- building leg muscles in legs
- parachute resistance training
1 - 1/2 hours daily specialized checking:
- Program designed for the "new standard of play rules"
- learning to give and receive a body check
- developing a sense of body awareness
- developing respect for your body position while body checking
- learning the purpose of hitting
- learning how to break the confidence wall
- learning the value of peripheral vision so you can anticipate being hit
- learning how to defend yourself while being hit
- forwards will learn the power of forechecking and anticipation; defenceman will learn how to read plays, 1 on 1s, 2 on 1s, 3 on 2s, etc.
- learn how to block shots properly
- defenceman and forwards will learn how to handle front-of-net physical play
- free daily lunch
- 1 hour off-ice training and 1 hour recreation
- free official hockey camp jersey
- video analysis on skating stride and checking
- groups will be limited to 34 skaters and 4 goalies
- 6 instructors on-ice
