Captain's Program

For players born ‘92, ‘93, ‘94, ’95, '96, '97
Emphasis on puck control, goal scoring,
acceleration and team play ...developing captains and leadership for selected Rep and All-Star players

 

RESIDENCE DATES: July 5 - August 20, 2010

At New "STATE OF THE ART" Sir Sandford Fleming College Residence

RESIDENCE FEATURES:

  • Each residence unit has 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with showers
  • Each residence unit has 1 senior staff per 6 players
  • Each residence unit has refrigerator and all furniture
  • On main floor of residence unit is laundry facilities, game room, and work-out gym
  • Outside the residence includes basketball court, tennis court, soccer field and baseball diamond
  • NEW! Swimming at the new Wellness Centre on campus


RESIDENCE INCLUDES:
(Sunday through to Friday afternoon)

  • Check-in Sunday 4:00 pm at Sir Sandford Fleming  College
  • Check-out Friday 6:00 pm at arena
  • 5 night stay over Sunday through Thursday
  • 5 dinners Sunday through Thursday
  • 5 breakfasts Monday through Friday
  • 5 lunches at arena Monday through Friday
  • Transportation between Residence and Evinrude Arena daily (5 minutes)
  • Camper will be sent checklist of things to bring in June mailer
  • Assistance in arranging airport shuttle

PROGRAM FEATURES:

30 hours on-ice Monday to Friday
6 total hours on-ice daily


2 hours daily acceleration power skating

  • hockey aerobics
  • proper crossover development with CHE carousel
  • body awareness development with spring board
  • mirror board utilization to show proper stride and upper body movement
  • skate weights utilization for anaerobic training
  • parachute resistance training

1 hour daily puck control

  • develop stick fakes
  • protecting the puck
  • develop quick stick handling by using lead pucks
  • develop skill of finding open ice
  • develop feet as part of puck control
  • learn curl and drag skill with stick
  • learn the power of peripheral vision

2 hours daily scrimmage and team play

  • learn 5 breakouts
  • learn 5 different forechecks
  • learn D-D pass with transition play
  • learn 1 on 1, 2 on 1, 3 on 1, 3 on 2 and reading plays
  • learn 3 different D-zone coverages
  • face-off strategy
  • daily tournament game

1 hour daily goal scoring

  • develop stick speed while shooting
  • develop one-timer shot
  • develop off-balance shot
  • learn art of when to shoot, when to deke
  • develop point shots and art of tip-ins

Off-ice: All off-ice activities and lectures will be geared toward leadership development

  • free official hockey camp jersey
  • free daily lunch
  • 1 hour daily off-ice concentrating on target shooting, conditioning and foot speed
  • 1 hour plyometrics


Plyometrics and off-ice program will be mailed June 1.
Plyometrics are activities designed to develop power.They include a variety of footwork drills and special exercises which enhance a hockey player’s ability to move quickly and explosively. Agility and balance are also improved.
