ELITE PROGRAM

4 hours on ice per day!

July 21 - 25, 2008 (2 groups) Junior/College group for players born ‘91, ‘92, '93 Elite group for players born ‘94, ‘95, ‘96

Players eligible are from selected A, AA, AAA and will be notified of their acceptance.

PROGRAM FEATURES 20 Hours total on-ice Monday to Friday. 4 Hours on-ice daily, 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon

2 Hours on-ice in the morning includes:
  • Advanced CHE Power Skating Program
  • Parachute training for anarobic training
  • Video breakdown of technical body position
  • Advanced shooting drills to develop timing, regroups and quick counter attacks; learning all shots and when to use them
  • Advanced counter drills and passing drills

2 Hours on-ice in the afternoon includes:
  • Team play development includes teaching transition play, cycling the puck, defencemen joining attack, reading plays, power play and penalty killing, learn five breakouts, D - D passes, reverses and more.
  • Full 1 hour game each day
  • Scouting report at end of week on each player by Detroit scouts

Off-ice training and recreation includes:
  • Hiking, swimming, circuit training session, basketball, ball hockey
  • Optional white water rafting
  • Daily lecture
  • Free daily lunch
  • Free official hockey camp jersey

Detroit Red Wings Conditioning Program:
Plyometrics and off-ice program will be mailed June 1. Plyometrics are activities designed to develop power. They include a variety of footwork drills and special exercises which enhance a hockey player’s ability to move quickly and explosively. Agility and balance are also improved. Groups will be limited to 30 skaters and 4 goalies. Scouting report at end of week on each player by Detroit scouts.
POWER SKATING, GOAL SCORING, PUCK CONTROL PROGRAM

3 HOURS ON ICE PER DAY

JULY 21 - 25, 2008 (2 groups) for beginners, average, advanced, ages 8 - 13

PROGRAM FEATURES:
15 Hours total on-ice Monday to Friday.
3 Hours on-ice daily, 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon

Daily power skating on-ice:
  • CHE Power Skating Program includes forward stride, backward stride, stops & starts, crossovers, agility, pivots, “J” turns
  • Hockey aerobics
  • Proper crossover development with CHE carousel
  • Parachute resistance training
  • Skate weights utilization for anaerobic training

Daily puck control:
  • Develop stick fakes
  • Protecting the puck
  • Develop quick stick handling by using lead pucks
  • Develop skill of finding open ice
  • Develop feet as part of puck control
  • Learn curl and drag skill with stick
  • Learn the power of peripheral vision
  • Use CHE-patented stickmen for putting puck through triangle and between opponent’s legs
  • Develop puck control while skating backwards and pivoting

Daily goal scoring:
  • Develop stick speed while shooting
  • Develop one-timer shot
  • Develop off-balance shot
  • Learn art of when to shoot, when to deke
  • Develop all shots – wrist, backhand, snap, slap and deke
  • Develop proper positioning for goal scoring
  • Develop point shots and art of tip-ins
  • Learn how to shoot on-the-fly

Team play development:
  • Includes teaching transition play, cycling the puck, defencemen joining attack, reading plays, power play and penalty killing, learn five breakouts, D - D passes, reverses and more.
  • Full 1 hour controlled scrimmage

Off-ice training and recreation includes:

SPECIAL GOALIE PROGRAM

4 HOURS ON ICE PER DAY

July 21-25, 2008 (1 group) for all ages and skill levels For Goalies Only.

PROGRAM FEATURES:
20 Hours total on-ice Monday to Friday.
4 Hours on-ice daily2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon
  • Goalies are grouped on-ice according to age and skill in groups of 3 or 4
  • Program runs 8 am to 5 pm daily Monday to Friday
  • Practices involve 8 teaching stations with individual skills taught at each station. All skills will be taught including stance, angles, glove saves, rebounds, skate saves, stick saves, poke check, puck handling, passing, setting puck for defencemen, closing 5-hole, butterfly and attitude.
  • Whole-ice game-like situation will be taught and practiced, i.e. 2 on 1s, 3 on 1s, 3 on 2s. During these drills the goalies will be taught positioning.
  • Special features include using world-famous BONI puck shooting machine, screen board, mirror board and angle ropes.
